Abstract
Granular cell tumorof the breast(GCTB) is a very rare and it is originated from Schwann cell. Most patients complain of a palpable, firm and painless breast mass that may arouse a clinical suspicion of breast cancer. GCTB is benign in 98% of cases, but mimics breast cancer. Traditional imaging techniques have difficulties in recognizing any feature specific for this tumor. Only excisional biopsy allows the detection of the distinct histological and immunohistochemical profile of the lesion(granular cytoplasm and staining for the S-100 protein). A 51-years-old woman presented with a palpable breast mass. On physical examination, a mass was palpable in the left mid inner quadrant area and somewhat fixed to the surround tissues and pectoralis major muscle. We could detect asymmetry left mid outer quadrant area on mammography. Ultrasonographic findings revealed a 1.0cm sized low echoic lesion with invasion to retromammary fat. The result of a core needle biopsy was GCTB, which was confirmed by excision. We report one case of GCTB,
which was believed to breast cancer clinically.
